Lakeville High School Students Dies After Crash

LAKEVILLE, Minn. -- A community is mourning after four Lakeville South students were involved in a fatal accident.

Police say they were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover crash on 225th west of Dodd Road around 3 p.m. Friday. The crash was discovered by a passerby who saw the overturned vehicle and one of the passengers wandering nearby.

Officers say two males died after they were apparently thrown from the truck. Two other males were also at the scene. Authorities say one was walking and talking, and the other suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center.

In a statement released Friday evening, Lakeville Schools confirmed four Lakeville South students were involved in the crash.

"This is an extremely difficult time for the district and the Lakeville Area community. We will be providing support and counselors as long as needed," said Amy Olson Communications Director for Lakeville Area Public Schools. Grief support was made available at Lakeville South High School Friday night.

"It probably won't hit until Monday when we are in class and they are not there anymore. Still shocked," Halle Gill, a junior, told KARE 11. "Keep the families in your prayers, the kids and everyone at our school," she added.

Police say their investigation into the crash is on-going. They are not releasing names until next of kin have been notified.

In the wake of the tragedy, many people took to Twitter to share their condolences. Lakeville High School Students Dies After Crash
